WordPress plugin settings

After you install the plugin, the banner usually needs Intro and Privacy policy filled in before it can appear. This page explains what those fields are for and what to check if something still looks wrong.

← WordPress — install the plugin

Intro

Use Intro for short, clear text visitors see with the banner — for example what cookies you use and that they can choose. Write in everyday language your audience understands.

  • Do not leave this empty if the plugin requires it.
  • You can keep it brief; the full legal detail belongs on your privacy policy page.

Privacy policy

Here you set the link (URL) to your real privacy or cookie information page.

  • The link must open in a browser for a normal visitor (try it yourself).
  • Use https:// and your real domain — not a draft or “coming soon” page.
  • If this field is wrong or empty, the banner often will not show at all.

Some setups also show privacy-related options under Intro; if the plugin offers both, follow what you see in wp-admin and keep at least one valid policy URL.

Common questions

I saved settings but nothing changed

  1. Hard refresh or open the site in incognito.
  2. Clear WordPress cache / optimisation / CDN plugins if you use them.
  3. Re-check the privacy policy URL — typos and http vs https matter.

Where do visitors click “Privacy policy”?

That depends on your theme and the plugin’s layout; the important part is that the URL you configured is valid. If a button or link looks wrong, check your Intro copy and any link fields in the plugin screen.

Do I need a lawyer to write the intro?

This help center cannot give legal advice. Many sites use a short neutral intro and put legal detail on the policy page linked here. When in doubt, ask a qualified adviser.
