What is IAB TCF — and what does “certified” mean?
TCF (Transparency and Consent Framework) is an industry standard from IAB Europe for sharing consent and related signals between websites, consent tools, and ad vendors — especially in programmatic advertising.
What implementations usually include
- A standard way to surface vendors and purposes.
- A consent string — a compact record of choices that ad systems can read.
Certification vs support
A product can implement TCF-oriented signaling and still not be on IAB’s certified CMP list. Certification is a separate, formal programme. If a partner or contract requires a certified CMP, check the current IAB list and your vendor’s official statement.
